6mm sci-fi gaming board in progress

In between all the naval stuff I normal do I’ve got a bit of a 6mm sci-fi skirmishing side project on the go. Of course it’s massively inspired by Angel Barracks http://angelbarracks.blogspot.co.uk/ amazing work going on there.

So this is the gaming board so far, I’m going for the look of a rocky planet/moon with no surface water. I had fun thinking about how this environment affects the geography and suffice of the board. In the end this lead me to do trails of boulders blown round a few large rock formations. I’m quite happy with the way the different size sand and grit has worked together to create some interesting textures. As the board is quite flat I think this change in texture helps the board look a little bit more lifelike and believable.

I’ll post some more pictures when it’s a bit more developed, as always comments and advice welcomed.

About benjaminwalton

I'm a 27 year old wargamer originally from Pendock Worcestershire. I now live in Kingston and work as an architect in Teddington lock. I've been in to wargaming since I was about 9, starting with airfix and revell plastic figures then moving on to games workshop. I'm now manly in to historical naval gaming but I'll play whatever looks like good fun.
